Lakewood Chamber of Commerce Announces Scholarship Recipients

The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce 2017 Scholarship recipients have been announced and will be honored at the Taste of Lakewood on June 11th at Madison Park. The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce scholarship program, established in 2000, awards scholarships each year to four high school seniors who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their studies, extra-curricular activities, and, just as importantly, a commitment to working at a part-time or full-time job during their high school years. Over seventy young men and women have received Lakewood Chamber of Commerce scholarships over the past 18 years.

Congratulations to the 2017 Lakewood Chamber of Commerce Scholarship recipients:

Mohamad Abusharekh, St. Edward High School. Mohamad is active with SEHS Football, Mock Trial, and Science Olympiad. Mohamad volunteers at Ennis Court and works in the Lakewood Recreation Department. He will be attending Loyola University (Chicago) in the fall.

Kent Adams, Lakewood High School. Kent is the National Honor Society (NHS) Treasurer and participates in the Lakewood Ranger Marching Band, Swim Team, French Club, AYF, Model UN and is an Eagle Scout of Boy Scout Troop 115. Kent works at McDonald’s on Detroit Avenue. He will be attending Georgetown University (Washington DC) in the fall.

Walker Miller, Lakewood High School. Walker is a member of NHS, Barnstormers, and the Lakewood Ranger Marching Band. She is a 6-year member of the Youth Honors Wind Ensemble at Baldwin Wallace University and participates in competitive synchronized skating with Cleveland Edges Skating Club. Walker works at Justice at Westgate and will be attending Baldwin Wallace University in the fall.

Hana Shaheen, Lakewood High School. Hana is a four-year member of Student Council and a four-year LHS Cross Country and Track athlete. She is active with her church youth group and works at GV Art + Design. Hana will be attending Cleveland State University this fall.
