Inaugural Art And Soul Street Festival

The Good Day Moon Gallery and The Reiki Room are sponsoring the “Art and Soul Street Festival” to benefit Trinity Lutheran Community Outreach Community Meals program to be held Saturday September 14 from Noon till 7 p.m. The event is being held on Cranford Ave., near Detroit Ave. Steve Berry Buick is also participating by offering the grass lot on Cranford to be used for performers and musicians.

It began with the idea to hold a small event, a few artists, maybe a musician or two.

And it took off…and grew into a street festival offering Fair food, street performers and around 14 artists and musical entertainment.

People can come and enjoy a variety of local artists, who will be selling their work, along with street performers such as “Something Da Da”, a comedy improv group who recently performed at the Elmwood Arts Festival. A dance troop from Olmsted Performing Arts Academy is performing “A Reason to Celebrate.” The dance troop are made up of performers ranging in age from 7 years old to 20 years old, and will soon be performing on stage at Downtown Disney this fall.

In addition, there will be live musicians performing, such as Dave Brewer, percussionist, Henry DeLeone, steel drum performer. Eddie Albert will also be performing and playing guitar. We will also be entertained by members of the Newbury’s St Helen’s Unicycle Drill Team, who have generously offered to put on three performances throughout the event.

A street festival wouldn’t be complete without food!

To satisfy and tempt you, Lucky Dogs will be offering hot dogs, Italian sausage sandwiches and other fun items along with a variety of beverages. The Root Café will be there offering hot chocolate and hopefully some apple cider to kick off the fall season. The festival is also inviting you to get in touch with your own inner artist by helping draw on the sidewalks with sidewalk chalk; in addition there will face painting the kids.

There will also be a raffle of items donated by other local merchants, and a bake sale where 100% of the proceeds will go directly to TLCO. The vendors involved will also be donating 10% of their sales to the community meals program.

There is also rumor of having a glass blowing demonstration by The Glass Bubble Project located in Ohio City.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the Lakewood Community to come together and help a lot of people at one time…the artists and local businesses, as well as the community in need.

Considering this is the first event, we personally cannot wait to see what we can put together for next year!
