LHS Graduation Postponed Until June 4 Because of Weather

Postby Jim O'Bryan » Fri May 28, 2021 11:03 am

Rain clouds coming in over Lakewood yesterday.

Due to weather the 2021 LHS Commencement is postponed for tonight. Rescheduled date is June 4th at 6:00 p.m. in the Civic Auditorium.

Civic Auditorium is a change— it was going to be in the stadium but because DeWine lifted ban on indoor gatherings as of June 2 it can be inside which is a good thing as lightning storms are predicted for next Fri. 330ish graduates times 4 family members each in the Civic next week

> It is with great regret that I must inform you of the postponement of tonight's Commencement ceremony. We were trying to be optimistic that we might get a break in the weather, but unfortunately that did not happen. For everyone's safety and enjoyment we will be holding the 2021 Commencement ceremony on Friday, June 4th at 6:00 p.m.
>
> With the Ohio Department of Health lifting orders restricting capacity for indoor venues on June 2nd, we will be able to hold the ceremony in the Civic Auditorium. For those uncomfortable sitting in such close proximity to others, we will set up socially distanced seating in the cafeteria where guests will be able to view a livestream of the ceremony.
>
> Thank you for your patience and understanding as we grappled with the decision to postpone.
>
> We look forward to celebrating our seniors on June 4th!
