A question for those informed on this topic.
Is this new fee in addition to the water/sewer 5-year rate increase plan previously enacted by City Council?
The mailing from the City was silent on that point.
Secondly, why can't there be an actual public meeting on this?

More Games With The English Language
Please watch the use and misuse of the word "equity" in this context.
If you are a significant corporation like Giant Eagle or any of the affiliated gas stations with hard surface parking lots or service areas, in what way is it "equitable" to saddle residential property owners with an impervious surface fee.
I understand that the City faces an enormous financial burden to meet its Clean Water Permit obligations and someone has to pay for it, but let's do this without wrecking the English language too.

Re: The New Impervious Surface Fee
For those interested, I could not find any references to this new proposed fee on the City of Lakewood Website.
Perhaps those more informed could comment. Thanks.

Hi Mark--
I found this on the City of Lakewood's Facebook page:
Clean Water Lakewood Virtual Meeting June 16, 2021 7pm
Join us for an update on Clean Water Lakewood, our city’s plan to improve and update our 100-year-old sewer system. This virtual community conversation will focus on our progress toward meeting Ohio EPA and US EPA regulatory requirements, and how we can use American Rescue Plan Act funding and a new proposed Impervious Surface Fee to help fund a modern sewer system that better protects Rocky River and Lake Erie from pollution. Re: The New Impervious Surface Fee
ps
I just went to the City's website, with its new address of lakewoodoh.gov to see if I could find anything about this.
If you click on News which is on the menu running across the top, from that page there is a menu running down
the right side of the page.
There's a whole section under "Clean Water Lakewood" which explains what's happening, includes a copy of the
water bill and has a place where you can submit questions for the community discussion on the 16th.
