In Lakewood we know the value of our police department and its members. While some yell for more police, the group we have go about their businesses day in and day out without much fanfare, but keep getting the job done.
Thank you. Please join with the Observer in celebrating National Police Week...
The first known line-of-duty death of a police officer happened in 1786. Since then more than 22,000 U.S. law enforcement officers have made the ultimate sacrifice. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) is a principal organizer of National Police Week, alongside Concerns of Police Survivors and the Fraternal Order of Police/Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary (FOP/FOPA).
Historically taking place each May in Washington, D.C., NLEOMF will commemorate Police Week 2021 with virtual events that can be viewed from anywhere in the world.
