Issue 8 in our 17th year of publishing the Lakewood Observer drops into the middle of a big discussion throughout the city about safety, brought about by one 18-year-old shooting another 18-year-old over a girl at Madison Park.

We look at the event: we look at the response by the police who caught the shooter. We look at City Hall and the Mayor, her response. We look at City Council and their response, the response of Lakewood City Schools, and we of course look to the residents and their responses.

We also look at schools, non-profits, new laws, birthdays, parties, and recreation all in the city we love and call home, Lakewood, Ohio.

Thank you all for your support, and trusting us with your stories and photos. With seventeen years in the bank, you know no one will do it better.

The best way to fight crime in any community, is common sense, and working together.

An interesting issue of The Observer.
Susannah Selnick nailed it with her article on the closure of basketball courts at Madison Park.
