Please join us Monday night, in welcoming folk-rock musician Alexis Antes back to Lakewood.

Alexis grew up in the local music scene. Her first performance was around age six at Red Horse Hollow, a Lakewood coffeehouse and folk venue owned by her parents Bobbie and Scott (both accomplished artists as well).

Right after graduating high school, she became a founding member of Odd Girl Out, along with Anne E. Dechant and Victoria Fliegel. Writing in The Observer several years ago, Martha Wood recalled that "OGO performed sold-out shows throughout the Midwest from 1990 to 1995. The group enjoyed a cult following, particularly on the college scene and received airplay on, and support from, commercial radio stations in the Cleveland market."

Of Alexis's solo work since OGO disbanded, Wood wrote "Her songs had solid, honest lyrics along with appealing rhythms… [Her work's] heartfelt lyrics and melodies… have made Antes a noted songwriter among her contemporaries."

Alexis will be performing Monday evening at Around the Corner, during the Making Change benefit for Tristan Rader's campaign for Lakewood City Council. The evening's lineup also includes a buffet, prize drawings, and an auction for two seats at the October 1 Browns-Bengals game.

Tickets are $10 and may be purchased online or at the event.

Making Change
Monday, Sept. 18, from 6:30-8:30
Around the Corner, 18616 Detroit Ave.
