When I first began to pay attention to the number of cases by state, Ohio was the 17th state with the most cases. Then, it became the 16th. Now, it's risen to the 14th position.

I don't understand, that if Ohio is doing so well, why it's climbing in numbers and overtaking other states.

these are totals by state.
these are not cases per capita.
New York is full of Italians. it is an epidemic.

United States statistics are skewed higher by New York and New Jersey. New York has the highest infection rate in the world with about 1,126 deaths per million.

The United States has 166 deaths per million.

Sweden has 215 deaths per million.

Sweden did not destroy it's economy. The United States did. Was it worth it?

All the numbers from all sources should be read with a skeptical eye. Countries like China just make up numbers. Some countries count all deaths with Covid like symptom as Covid deaths.

Question for the day: Long after China knew that Covid was highly contagious and long after they locked down flights from Wuhan to the rest of China the Chinese government encouraged Chinese citizens to travel to Europe and the United States. Why would they do that?

Maybe it's me, who isn't getting it. It probably is.

But, it was stated, that All Current Trends Are Down In Ohio.

My concern is...... out of the 50 U.S. states, Ohio originally held the 17th position for the most cases.
Then, it bumped up to the 16th position.

Now, it has moved to the 14th position. This is one chart, that we don't want to climb.

Georgia is in the 12th spot, and we'll get to see how those numbers change, if at all, when it reopens tomorrow.

Meanwhile, if All Current Trends Are Down In Ohio, why did we move up two slots?
Seriously, I don't get it...

Ohio is the 7th most populated state.

There is some disparity between testing rates among states. As well as the accuracy of the tests.

It is also unclear what the infection rate is. and what rate of infected have zero symptoms or minor symptoms.

Absolutely, I'm paranoid. I hit 2 of the markers. My husband hits 4. Plus, my husband is male. So, that's 5 for him. I say this, because overall, more males than females, are getting this.

While I have friends getting my groceries, I try to buck up occasionally, and go out for a food item.
The thought of my somehow bringing IT home, and giving it to him.....is nearly paralyzing.

It doesn't help when a friend, who works at a Cleveland hospital, shakes his head and says it's too soon for Ohio to open.

It’s not an either / or - save lives or save the economy.

The economy would take a hit even if we opened it up because smart people won’t do certain things like go to a sporting event, eat in a restaurant, etc.

“Opening” up the economy isn’t going to save it. We are going to have a recession even if we open it up today.

So get over it.
