Indoor Waterpark at site of abandoned hospital?

I am sick of driving an hour in the snow to go to an indoor waterpark. I think an urban waterpark would be awesome, have a hotel and tall parking garage and a large water park. Could even have a clear tube that crosses belle and back or something wild. Plenty of dining within walking distance and close to the highway...

What type of development should replace the hospital, 1,100 jobs and hundreds of millions in economic activity?

Since the City will be giving the Clinic the choicest portion along Detroit I don't know how much value the rest of the land will have. There is plenty of empty office space in Lakewood and plenty more all around the County. If there was a demand I suspect the occupancy rates would be lower.

How many really nice homes will be sacrificed?

The most likely scenario the one that played out for the Lakewood Town Center. Grandiose promises to quiet the masses followed by a new version of Marcs Plaza.

If we are going to replace the hospital with a clinic then I suggest we insist on the real thing like they have in Brunswick and that it be built on land from Detroit to Clifton just east of Beach to Hird. 40 acres of real development placed to appeal to the 20,000 commuters who pass by each day and the 100,000 people who live within a 4 minute ride.

That type of development would increase economic activity along Clifton and encourage people to drive East instead of West. That's one reason it will never happen.

The real battle isn't between Lakewood and the Clinic, it is between those who gain from the depopulation of Cuyahoga County and those who think cities like Lakewood are worth saving.

We don't have any allies and without allies its an impossible task.

I had one political figure telling me about the health/technology corridor? All I could think
of spanning Belle to St. Charles? Then I was told, no somrthing more like The Cleveland
Foundation, oh, where overpaid executives have used the largest financial foundation of its
type in the world to spend billions over decades to reduce Cleveland's population by 60%.
Hmmmmm LKWD? LAKE+ Wow, imagine Lakewood taxes with only 13,000 residents?

New Jersey has seen a lot of hospitals close. Interesting how many have been converted to private medical facilities. The state is even going to provide tax incentives. Seems like a dangerous path that just follows the money, oh wait, that's what we already have, isn't it?
