Keep Lakewood Beautiful Earth Day Clean Up
9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
If you’ve noticed an "Adopt-a-Spot" around Lakewood, you’re already familiar with one of our most cherished organizations: Keep Lakewood Beautiful (KLB). Founded in the 1980s, KLB was established to encourage civic involvement and public interest in improving the environment of Lakewood. Over the years, KLB’s fully volunteer board has planned and coordinated impactful programs focused on litter prevention, recycling, and the beautification of green spaces.
While the organization’s core goals have remained steadfast, its vision has evolved in response to the changing needs of our city and environment. Today, KLB continues to advocate for litter prevention, recycling, and overall beautification, while also promoting initiatives like composting, planting native species, and expanding our tree canopy.
KLB invites you to participate in their annual Earth Day Clean Up at Madison Park on April 19, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. It’s a great opportunity to make a positive impact in our community!
In addition to the clean-up, KLB has partnered with several organizations to help Lakewood residents learn how to be better stewards of the environment. Look for the Lakewood Refuse Department and their Recycling Truck, where you can easily drop off electronics for recycling or paper for shredding. It's a perfect chance to discover how to properly recycle and dispose of items in Lakewood!
Cleveland Water will also be joining KLB to talk about their mission of providing safe, reliable drinking water, all while embracing principles of environmental stewardship, openness, equity, and accountability. Be sure to bring your own water bottle, as Cleveland Water will be providing water for our volunteers throughout the event.
Composting is a key part of waste reduction, and Rust Belt Riders will be onsite to share their mission of turning waste into wealth by feeding people rather than filling landfills.
There may be more exciting guests to join us, so be sure to follow KLB on social media for updates and any changes to the event.
KLB is always developing new programs and welcomes fresh faces. If you're interested in volunteering or learning more, please reach out to [email protected]. Join this amazing group and help Keep Lakewood Beautiful!
