NorthCoast Rescue-a-Thon
7:00 AM
Desperately seeking good, kind foster families for sweet dogs recently rescued from kill shelters. Right now we have two wonderful dogs who were scheduled to be euthanized because the shelter was full. This is a sad but very true reality for many abandoned dogs and cats. If you or someone you know is interested in fostering or adopting a dog, please call or text 216-413-6945 today for more information!! Thank you!!

This Is Trans Gallery Exhibition at Studio West 117 March 31st is International Transgender Day of Visibility
5:00 PM - 12:00 PM
The goal with this project is to raise awareness and encourage education on what it means to be transgender. Currently, transgender rights are up for debate within our society; and now more than ever, we need to showcase how beautiful and valid it is to live authentically as transgender. Currently the exhibition is on display now until April 30th, viewable during normal business hours. The premiere on the 31st will act more of a celebration and educational experience.

This project was started at the beginning of 2022 as a way to bring visibility and awareness to transgender people of all forms. Transgender can be mistakenly thought of as a binary concept in which a person has to transition from one binary gender to the other, aka male to female or female to male. Stigmas surrounding the community have pushed a belief that a transgender person is only valid if they transition fully with the use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and gender confirming surgeries. While some transgender people transition in this way; not all do. With the help of Studio West 117, I am seeking to bring to light that transgender is an umbrella that covers an array of identities; and that each is unique, beautiful and fully valid. Participants in this project have been photographed as they are, showing the world that they are completely valid in their unique and diverse transgender identity and presentation. All participants have contributed their personalities, their identities, their compassion, and their desire to see a world that truly accepts and loves them for the beautiful humans that they are.

On March 31st, the exhibition will premiere with a transgender wellness fair from 5pm to 7pm. This wellness fair will include over twenty organizations from across Ohio who help to support the transgender community. As well, from 10pm to 12am, we will have an all transgender drag show. The exhibition includes over 100 unique portraits and digital education art pieces.
