WordStage Literary Concerts opens its 2023 Season with "A Salon for Mr. Lincoln"
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Originally commissioned by the Vermont State House for a celebration of President Lincoln's 200th Birthday, "A Salon for Mr. Lincoln" reveals the astonishng role music played in the Life of Abraham Lincoln and his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln. From the genteel formality of the White House's Red Room to the gaiety of the local music halls, Lincoln absorbed as much music, both merry and melancholy, as his schedule would permit.

Whether heartily enjoying ribald music hall ditties or grand opera, soulful ballads or stirring patriotic hymns, the music that Lincoln loved entertained, inspired and comforted him.

The songs and ballads of Stephen Foster, operatic arias by Charles Gounod and Henry Bishop and hymns by Robert Lowry and others presented throughout our program will be perfromed by Agnes Herrmann, Abraham Roos, Paul Slimak, Tim Tavcar and Laura VanDale and will be accompanied by Mary Beth Ions and Partick Wickliffe on violin and piano.

Admission is $20 Adults/$15 Seniors/$10 Students. Cash or Check at the door. Reservations can be made by calling 440-857-0717.
