12:00 PM
On February 28 at 7:00 p.m. two Ohio faith leaders along with the national director of the Faith Leaders of Color Coalition will join world renowned anti-death penalty activist Sister Helen Prejean, author of Dead Man Walking, for an evening of discussion about the intersection of faith, racial bias and the failures of the death penalty.

The virtual event called “Thou Shall Not Kill: A Conversation with Sis Helen Prejean about Faith and the Death Penalty” will be hosted by the Ohio Council of Churches, Ohioans to Stop Executions and the Faith Leaders of Color Coalition.

Joining Sister Helen will be:

• Rev. Dr. Amariah McIntosh, Ohio Council of Churches, FLOCC member

• Bishop Gregory Palmer, West Ohio Conference United Methodist Church, FLOCC member

• Joia Erin Thornton, Faith Leaders of Color Coalition (FLOCC), Coalition Director

“This is a moment of divine destiny for people of color in Ohio that we must seize with determination,” said Rev. Dr. McIntosh. “My fellow Ohio members of the Faith Leaders of Color Coalition are energized for the campaign to end the death penalty, which is a direct descendent of racial terror lynchings. We are fully committed to seeing this racially biased system end in Ohio once and for all.”
