Hospice of The Western Reserve Volunteer Training Series

Are you looking for a way to help individuals in your community? We serve palliative and hospice care patients and families wherever they call home and have a wide range of volunteer opportunities to fit your talents, interests, and schedule. There are many virtual and face-to-face opportunities available at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, the Medina Inpatient Unit and Life’s Treasures Thrift Shop in Medina, and the David Simpson Hospice House and our Headquarters office in Cleveland. We usually hold two virtual training series each month. Upcoming training sessions are scheduled on Saturdays—June 4 & 11 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and Tuesdays & Thursdays—June 14, 16, 21, & 23 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Registration for a specific series is contingent on meeting pre-registration requirements which include completing an application, criminal background check, and pre-screening interview. The health of a city is determined by the people who live, work, and play there, and more than 60% of health is influenced by where you live. Help us learn more about the health of Lakewood by examining social determinants of health.

Join us on Tuesday, June 14 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for our VIRTUAL Lakewood Community Open House where you and others in Lakewood can share your thoughts on the health of Lakewood.

Cleveland-Bratislava Sister Cities June 14th Meeting

Come along with the History Channel’s host Pat Uskert and Slovak guide Mila Kissova on a stunning journey across Slovakia from Bratislava to the High Tatra Mountains, exploring Slovakia’s history, culture and breathtaking landscape. Pat & Mila will take us on a tour of Bratislava, the Rusyn churches and Andy Warhol Museum in eastern Slovakia, the medieval tour of Bardejov, Spis Castle, the Slovensky Raj, the Banska Stiavnica World Heritage site, the Velka Tatry mountains, and more. An open discussion of attendee’s own experiences visiting these sites will take place after the video presentation.
