There was a lot to experience in the Lakewood art scene on Saturday, May 6th, so we decided to make a day of it! We started at the Wobblefoot Gallery's show, Celebrating Life. This Juried Art Show, which ran from noon till 4pm, was a celebration of the Gallery's 15th anniversary. Participating artists were: Nancy Womack, John Muscarra, Patrice Mueller Varzelle, Irene Sukle, Ruth Finley, Howard Hoehn, Gretchen L. Burmeister, Lyn Minnis, Jim Stracensky, Neal Jenne, Gerald J. Yustick, Robert Tubbesing, and Jim Messenheimer. Awards presented were First Place to Tim O'Connor, Second Place to Douglas Oldershaw, Third Place to Virginia Sonntag, and Fourth Place to Catherine Billingsley.

Greetings fellow art enthusiasts of Lakewood. We would like to open our first Gallery Watch column by extending our heartfelt thanks to our predecessor, Chelsea L. Waschek, for all her hard work and commitment in keeping our readers informed about the Lakewood art scene up to this point. We wish Chelsea the best of luck in all her future endeavors.

~Current Show: “Drunken Bottles, Franken Hearts and other Friends,� a scary show for a scary month! The show features small sculpture works by San Francisco artist Ross Kennedy. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Thursday 10am-10pm and Friday and Saturday 10am -12am.

October holds thirty days full of anticipation for
candy, costumes and spooks! Also, a more adult holiday
happens in October - Sweetest Day. Ladies and
(especially) gentlemen do not forget that Saturday,
October 15th is Sweetest Day. A great way to
celebrate is to bring your sweetest to “The Sugar
Coated Show� opening reception, at the Pop Shop,
(17020 Madison at Cordova) Saturday, October 15th from
6-9PM.

~Announcing Swing Night! Friday September 23, 9pm-11:30pm swing music to listen and dance to will be played. A free swing dance lesson for beginners will be given starting at 8pm.
