After very careful consideration, the Lakewood Teachers Association (LTA) would like to announce its endorsement of Linda G. Beebe, W. Charles Geiger III and Martin Lowell for the three open seats on the Board of Education for the Lakewood City Schools. The LTA reached this decision only after reflecting upon the significant strengths brought by each of the five candidates, including Dawn DeFreeze and Matthew John Markling. The LTA believes Beebe, Geiger and Lowell demonstrate a particularly strong awareness regarding the perspectives of Lakewood parents, students and teachers. Moreover, Beebe and Geiger have already served the Lakewood City Schools well, not only in meeting challenges occasioned by education reform and fiscal constraints, but also through their leadership during the current “Improving School Facilities” initiative. The LTA thus believe they deserve the opportunity to continue their service for another term. The LTA would like to thank all five candidates for their gracious participation in this endorsement process.
