JWCL Calls for Runners, Walkers and Lakewood Supporters
Don’t be a ‘fraidy cat! Join in the community fun Saturday, October 27 when the Junior Women’s Club of Lakewood hosts it's annual Great Pumpkin Fun Run & 5K Race at Lakewood Park.
The gun goes off at 8:30 a.m. for serious walkers and runners taking the 5K (3.1-mile) course through Lakewood’s beautiful tree-lined streets. At 9:15 a.m., a one-mile “Fun Run” – a perfect event for families with little ones on the move – begins along the paved course at Lakewood Park.
In addition to awards for the fastest runners in their age categories, JWCL will reward those with the most creative costumes on the course. What could be better? Burn some ghoulish calories while warming up your Halloween costume for the big night.
And you’ll be breaking a sweat to benefit four worthy Lakewood charities: Lakewood Christian Service Center, Matthew’s Lending Library, Project Help to Others (H2O) and the North Coast Health Ministry.
The fee for the 5K is $20 but there are team and family discounts available. Family teams of three or more pay $12 as do school teams of five or more participants. The 1-mile Fun Run is $12 per participant.
Participants are encouraged to register by mail early to receive a T-shirt, which are very limited. Those interested can visit www.hermescleveland.com or call 216-623-9933. The library and businesses all around town also have registration forms available.
