The Lakewood Observer is happy to announce that Melissa Page will be carrying on the good work of Justine Cooper, leading the Madison Avenue Merchant Association. MAMA was started about three years ago by a few Madison Avenue small business owners and was championed by the Lakewood Observer.

We all look forward to “Mel” Page building on MAMA’s successes. Lakewood has already benefited greatly from Melissa’s service to the community. She is involved in many civic organizations and has had her hand in many positive Lakewood efforts.

After giving up a career in financial planning to devote her time to her family, she has found herself drawn to volunteer activities that benefit Lakewood. Mel brings a diverse and holistic background because of her wide range of experiences, having served on committees for Lakewood Schools, Main Street Lakewood and the Lakewood Historical Society. Currently, she sits on the steering committees of LakewoodAlive as membership chair and the new Friends of Madison Park. Other ongoing extracurricular activities that are close to her heart are serving board and committee positions of the Junior Women’s Club of Lakewood and Lakewood Early Childhood PTA. Mel has worked on many Lakewood charitable fundraisers and community service projects.

Mel, her husband Charlie, and two small children have lived off Madison Avenue in central Lakewood for eight years, an experi is a true believer that Madison Ave. has tremendous potential. The Page family finds that the shopping, eating and other activities offered on Madison enrich their quality of life, and Mel will be sharing these benefits regularly through the Lakewood Observer.  What impresses us most about Mel is that she is a bridge builder who thrives on bringing out the best in others. She never claims to have all the answers but values the power of relational and informational resources and pulling together people to work toward a common goal. Mel is certain that once you get to know Madison Avenue’s heart, soul, and unique character you will love it too.
