Lakewood Podcaster Wants Residents To Catch Olympic Fever

Alison Brown and Lakewood resident Jill Jaracz (right) encourage everyone to catch Olympic Fever with their podcast.

Ahead of the Olympics taking place in Tokyo next summer, Lakewood resident and podcaster Jill Jaracz wants Ohio to catch Olympic Fever.

Jaracz is the co-host and executive producer of the podcast Olympic Fever, an audio show on the Internet dedicated to sharing stories from Olympians and other Gamesmakers; Olympic history and how Olympic sports work.

“The Olympics is the pinnacle of sporting events, and it has an incredible impact on the world,” says Jaracz. “Each individual involved has such a great story to tell.”

Jaracz co-hosts the weekly show with Alison, a former co-worker who shares her love of the Olympics. Interviews have featured legendary Olympic Gold medalists including Kim Rhode (shooting), Charlie White (ice dancing), and Dawn Harper Nelson (athletics - hurdles) and John Naber (swimming).

The pair feature people who make the Games happen, but you never see on TV coverage, like wrestling announcer Jason Bryant and hockey ice technician/Zamboni driver Adam Stirn. Guests on the show become part of "Team Olympic Fever," which gives the show's listeners people to cheer on in their endeavors.

Athletes heading to Tokyo 2020 have also appeared on the show, including American modern pentathlete Samantha Achterberg and Canadian artistic swimmer Jacqueline Simoneau.

"We're so thrilled to be able to cheer on our past guests as they compete in Tokyo and live out their dreams," says Brown.

Olympic Fever is a weekly audio podcast with new episodes released every Thursday at olymfever.com and all major podcasting apps. During the Games, the show turns into a daily format with a half-hour recap of the day's Olympic events.
