Letter To The Editor: What Are People Breathing?
I have been concerned whenever I have go by the Lakewood Hospital demolition site, wondering what the people in the neighborhood are having to breathe. Spraying some water hardly suffices in these hot dry days to keep down particulate matter.
I noticed when I checked air quality today, 9/21/19, that it is "unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups." In fact, the air quality index today is 141 (less than 50 is deemed good), while that in New Delhi, India, a city renowned for its air pollution, is 71 which puts it at moderate.
Perhaps the Lakewood official in charge of air quality monitoring can put us at ease with her/his explanation. Thank you.
