Beatlemania At The Barton Senior Center

Remember the Beatles ’65 album? How about the Fab Four’s visits to Cleveland in 1964 and 1966? Get back to yesterday and relive those concerts or experience them for the first time. Best of all, you won’t have to travel across the universe to do it. There’s a place where you can go – The Barton Senior Center here in Lakewood!

On Thursday, October 17th at 2 p.m. author Dave Schwensen will relive the excitement of Beatlemania when John, Paul, George and Ringo visited Cleveland for two of the wildest, out of control concerts in Beatles – and rock ‘n’ roll – history. Dave will take you back to Northern Ohio during the 1960s and go behind the scenes and on stage with The Fab Four through insider stories, rare concert films, never-before published photos and memorabilia.

The highlights include films of The Beatles riotous concerts at Cleveland Public Hall in 1964 and Municipal Stadium in 1966 with enough memorabilia to fill a small yellow submarine. Beginning at 11am, win music prizes, purchase raffles, shop in our stores and visit with our sponsor, O’Neill Healthcare Lakewood. Don’t expect marshmallow pies – instead Lakewood’s new eatery, Ohio City Burrito will have a burrito bar set up in the café to purchase lunch.

If you’re a day tripper, this is your ticket to ride down memory lane. It will only cost you $5 for the presentation and that can be used for credit towards a yearly membership. You can join The Barton Senior Center for just $18 a year. This allows you to enjoy events and activities plus includes on-going access to the Center’s Café, Book Store, Corner Store and Hodge Podge resale shop. It won’t be long until more is announced in our monthly newsletter which you will receive as a BSC member.

No need to search here, there and everywhere for a 60’s fashion piece. Colorful handmade tie-dye shirts will be available for sale. Just looking at them will give you Kaleidoscope eyes! Mr. Schwensen will also have his book available for sale.

The Barton Senior Center is a non-profit, self-supporting organization created to enrich the lives of local seniors. Purchasing a membership helps continue its mission. You may ask, do I have to wait ‘til I’m when I’m 64 to sign up? No, the Barton Senior Center is open to those 55 and older. Younger and adult guests are welcome but must be accompanied by a senior member.

Come together with others in the community for some Beatles nostalgia. We hope you will enjoy the show!
