International Day of Peace- Origami Paper Crane Folding Tutorial

For All Ages

Celebrate the International Day of Peace by making origami cranes. Come learn how to contribute paper cranes to the display by learning and practicing how to fold your own origami paper cranes.

Girls Who Code 

For students in sixth through twelfth grade.

Join our club and use computer science to solve a problem that you care about in our community by working on a Computer Science Impact Project where you'll learn to use computer science to create a mobile app, design a website or program a robot. This program is designed for all levels of computer science experience.

Oregon Trail Adventure
For students in fifth through twelfth grade.

Join us for this life-size board game inspired by the classic educational Oregon Trail computer game. Utilizing teamwork, participants will explore choices made by settlers traveling west on the Oregon Trail. Could you have survived this historical westward expansion?

Happy Chinese Workshop
For students in first through sixth grade.

Learn about Chinese characters, expressions, songs and culture in this six-week
interactive program taught by visiting professor Shunqin Li of the Confucius Institute at Cleveland State University. These feel-good hands-on activities enhance the learning experience with fun and laughter.

Illustration Creation

For students in kindergarten through first grade

A six-week program featuring an art project each week based on a children’s book. Registration required.

Thursdays, September 12 – October 17, 2019, 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the Main Library Activity Room.

 

International Dot Day

For students in kindergarten through first grade

International Dot Day was created to encourage children to explore their creativity. After a reading of "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds, participants will make a dot-filled art project and contribute to a group dot art project that will be displayed in the Library. We will end this fun program by playing the ultimate dot game: Twister.

Tail Waggin’ Tutors

For school-age children

Bone up on your reading skills by reading to a dog. Drop in for a one-to-one session with one of our dogs and owners that have been certified through Therapy Dogs International.
