University Hospitals St. John Medical Center presents the Medical Speaker Series in Lakewood Public Library’s Main Library Auditorium. As part of this series, you can join medical professionals and community members to learn how to improve your physical and mental well-being.
University Hospitals St. John Medical Center is a full-service, nonprofit, acute care hospital providing comprehensive health care to residents of western Cuyahoga and eastern Lorain counties. Their presentation on the Importance of Blood Pressure will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 in the Main Library Auditorium.
High blood pressure can cause serious conditions including stroke, coronary disease and kidney problems. It is known as a silent killer. The experts at University Hospitals St. John Medical Center will discuss what causes high blood pressure as well as what healthy choices you can make to keep your blood pressure from elevating. They will explain what the diastolic and systolic numbers mean and will discuss the American Heart Association’s new healthy blood pressure standards.
Other presentations in the Medical Speakers series include Preventing Diabetes, which will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2019 and Prevention and Screening for Colon Cancer, which will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2019. All programs are held at 1:00 p.m. in the Main Library Auditorium.
