Space Is The Place: NASA@MyLibrary Programs

Taking Earth’s Temperature – For students in 2nd – 5th grade. Lasers and infrared will be your tools in gauging temperature in this fun, competitive, and yes – educational – activity. Can you find the hottest and coldest things in the Library? Wednesday, March 14, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the Main Library First Floor Multipurpose Room.

UV Kid – For students in 1st – 3rd grade. Simulate the sun’s effects on our skin by using our special ultraviolet-sensitive beads to create your own astronaut... then point our special ultraviolet flashlights at them and see what happens! Wednesday, March 28, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the Main Library First Floor Multipurpose Room.

Jump to Jupiter – For students in 1st – 3rd grade. The Solar System is really… really BIG. See just how big as we literally jump to each planet, learning about each along the way. Afterwards, “walk on the moon” in front of our special green screen. Wednesday, April 11, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the Main Library First Floor Multipurpose Room.

Shifting Shadows – For students in 1st – 3rd grade. The sun gives us light… but it also creates shadows. Come learn about light and darkness through science experiments and art projects based on your own shadows! Wednesday, April 25, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the Main Library First Floor Multipurpose Room.

Space Tower Engineering Challenge – For students in 2nd – 5th grade. Are you a master builder? We’ve got a challenge for you! In this exciting engineering program, you will learn about structures and team up with others to build the tallest tower possible out of materials provided by the Library. Wednesday, May 2, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the Main Library First Floor Multipurpose Room.
