Moving Back To Lakewood Meant Moving Back To Great Schools!

My husband and I live at the West End of Lakewood with our three children -- a daughter at Lakewood High School, a son at Harding Middle School, and a daughter at Horace Mann Elementary School. Our two older children started out at Lakewood City Schools but we soon moved to Tiffin, Ohio for my husband's job. We missed the wonderful community spirit Lakewood has to offer, and we especially missed the schools! Moving back has been a joy and so important to our family.

For us, the teachers make all the difference. Lakewood’s teachers at every level have a deep commitment to the success of their students. They get to know each student, determine their strengths and weaknesses, and find the best ways to motivate them and help them succeed. Lakewood’s teachers take things to the next level, and our children have learned so much through their careful, thoughtful instruction.

Our youngest daughter started Lakewood City Schools in the first grade, and her teacher made the transition very easy, especially the social aspect of starting in a new school. Our son started in middle school, where his teachers committed their own time before and after school to hold many social clubs -- chess, Minecraft, photography, H2O -- that made it easy for him to make new friends. Our eldest daughter has taken full advantage of the excellent music programs at the high school, and it has meant the world to her that she doesn’t have to be an athlete to feel that she is a valued member of the student body.

The past year and a half has been a challenge for our family, as I have faced numerous treatments for an aggressive form of breast cancer. With my husband still commuting to his job in Tiffin and me going through treatment, it has been so important to us that our children feel safe and secure at school. Teachers and administrators have been sensitive to their social and academic needs and have helped our children to excel academically during this difficult time.

We are so grateful for all that the Lakewood City Schools have to offer. They are a vital part of what makes Lakewood such a vibrant community. We are excited to see how our children will continue to succeed, and we thank Lakewood’s teachers for all they do for our kids!

Sincerely,

April Crone
