Free Summer Lunches For Kids At Church Of The Ascension

School-age kids from preschool through grade 12 can get a free, nutritious lunch every weekday from June 12 through August 11 at the Church of the Ascension, 13216 Detroit Ave. in Lakewood. Meals also are available at no charge to those with disabilities through age 21 who participate in a recognized school program for individuals with developmental or physical disabilities.

The church hosts and staffs the meals as an approved sponsor for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) administered by the Ohio Department of Education. Funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and food is ordered by church volunteers from the Cleveland Food Bank.

Meals are served on a first-come basis in Ascension Hall on the second floor of the church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday during the program period. Entry is through the second door by the east driveway.
