Journey Down The Rabbit Hole With Beck Center Youth Theater

Beck Center Youth Theater presents the first production of their 2016–2017 season, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, November 3–6, 2016, in the Mackey Theater. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 4 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 5. A special student matinee will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 3. This classic production is adapted by Tim Kelly from the story Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.In this timeless tale, Alice follows the White Rabbit into a world of talking flowers, comic royalty, and continually circling races! Along the way she must deal with the Mad Hatter’s frantic tea party, a mysteriously disappearing Cheshire Cat, and the never ending bickering from Tweedledee and Tweedledum – all before attending a trial where she suddenly finds herself accused!

With a cast of 36 Beck Center students ages 7 to 19, this family-friendly production is directed by Russel Stich. “The 2016-2017 season includes many classics with wonderful educational tie-ins,” remarked Associate Director of Youth Theater Education Jonathan Kronenberger. “There is a direct literary connection for Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and a plethora of beloved characters for our wide age range of students to research and play.”

The 2016–2017 season also includes Aargh!, December 9–18, 2016, CARRIE the musical, presented by Beck Teen Theater, March 24–April 2, 2017, and Schoolhouse Rock Live!, May 12–21, 2017. Tickets are $12 for Adults/Seniors and $10 for Children (18 and under), and may be purchased online at beckcenter.org or by calling 216.521.2540 x10. Tickets for Aargh! go on sale in November. Discounted group rates are available and can be scheduled by calling Customer Service Manager Rennie Tisdale at 216.521.2450 x28.

Beck Center is located at 17801 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood. Free onsite parking is available. This production of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Englewood, Colorado. The 2016–2017 Youth Theater season is presented by the Mort and Iris November Philanthropy Fund, and is made possible by the support of Cuyahoga County residents through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture and the Ohio Arts Council.
