Beck Center began the month of April in the Studio Theater with the thrilling regional premiere of "Shining City." Critics agree this production is “Broadway worthy” (AXS.com) and “Director Bernadette Clemens skillfully handles this wonderful play and its superb actors” (Cleveland.com). Showtimes are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays now through May 1. Save $2 off each adult/senior ticket with promo code: GHOST.

Written by the Tony® nominated and Olivier® winning playwright Conor McPherson, this Irish ghost story begins when a guilt-ridden man reaches out to his therapist after seeing the ghost of his recently deceased wife. Wrestling with his own demons, the therapist can only do so much to help. Their sessions soon become a gripping struggle to survive through parallel journeys of self-discovery. Praised by The New York Times, "Shining City" is “as close to perfection as contemporary playwriting gets.”

As April continues, Beck Center Dance Workshop and Education prepares for "Princess Scargo" in the Mackey Theater. Showtimes for this original ballet are 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, and 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 17.

"Princess Scargo" is the touching story of young Native American girl who gives up a precious birthday gift in order to save her village. Based on a popular Native American legend, this enchanting adaptation embodies the true spirit of selflessness. Original choreography by Associate Director of Dance Education Melanie Szucs will be performed by 80 Beck Center students along with excerpts from the classic ballet "Swan Lake."
