Spring Book Sale

Come join us for our springtime book sale on Saturday April 2, beginning at 9 a.m., and continuing until 5 p.m. in our main library basement. As always, you may view the selection early, on Thursday March 31 from 6 to 9 p.m., at our preview book sale. All you need to do is become a member of the Friends of the Library. For those who wish to sign up, a membership fee is only $2.00 a year.

The profit and hard work of each book sale goes into the programs and amenities we offer here at Lakewood Public Library, and there is so much the Friends do to make sure that there is an amazing selection of things to choose from at the sale. A membership may be purchased at our main circulation desk, through the mail, through the library’s website at lakewoodpubliclibrary.org or even at the door of the book sale.

This time around our book sale features a very special first edition, an autographed copy of the book "The Wild Country" by Louis Bromfield, originally published in 1948 by the publishing company Harper and Brothers. Bromfield, born in 1896, was and still is very highly esteemed in the agricultural world, and had his beginnings right here in Mansfield, Ohio. He devoted a large amount of his life to the study of farming, many techniques he perfected are still used in harvesting our food today.

The sale will also have an amazing selection of classical and religious sheet music, donated from Pilgrim St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, as well as sheet music from their choir collection featuring both children and adult choirs, which the friends are willing to donate to a good home that could use them. This will be the last book sale where audiobooks are available on cassette tape. However, we will continue to stock audiobooks on CD.

As the weather warms up, and the world comes back to life around us, it’s the perfect time to curl up outside with a good book, so come see us and find the perfect spring-time adventure!
