Save Lives, Save Jobs, Save Lakewood, Save Lakewood Hospital

Lakewood residents deserve a fulltime acute care hospital! Lakewood is the most densely populated city between New York City and Chicago. 52,000 residents live here. Senior citizens have been encouraged to move here to senior apartments near our hospital. They are less likely to have a car to take them for medical attention.

Transportation to other hospitals on the west side is difficult, especially for those without a car. There are three EMT units for transporting emergencies to medical help. The closest Emergency Room other than Lakewood is at Fairview Hospital - three miles away. The Clinic building in Avon is 25 miles to the west with no public transportation to it.

Someone with a critical situation - stroke, heart attack, or another life-threatening problem may have a long wait if no EMT unit is available because it is out of the city. Average wait times in local Emergency Rooms vary from two hours and nine minutes to four hours and six minutes. In extreme times the wait can be longer.

TIME IS TISSUE! According to Doctor Kilroy, MD, of Lakewood.

The Lakewood Hospital contract is NOT A DONE DEAL. Join the Save Lakewood Hospital Committee, which meets most Sundays at Lakewood Public Library at 4pm.
