Chocolate Walk!
Chocolate Walk is coming! This very popular Downtown Lakewood Business Alliance event draws chocolate lovers from all over northeast Ohio. Mark your calendar for October 22nd so you can join the throngs that take to the street to gather delicious chocolate treats. From 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., chocoholics will bustle down Detroit Avenue from Olivewood to Arthur, popping in to each of 25 Sweet Stops to see what creative chocolate delights each has to offer. Oh yes—with the exception of one. Even with chocolate, there can be too much of a good thing. So don’t miss Pizza BOGO, as they’ll be serving tastes of their savory pizza to provide a bit of respite from the confections offered by the other merchants. Welcome additions to the Downtown Lakewood restaurant scene and the line-up of Sweet Stops are Burgers-2-Beer, Forage and Voodoo Tuna.
Speaking of confections, the Grand Finale Sundae bar (open from 8:00-9:00 p.m. in the First Federal of Lakewood lobby) is sponsored by Fear’s Confections and Ice Cream Joy. Cassandra Fear and Marissa Flynn are teaming up to concoct a brownie sundae for you on the spot. A little square of rich brownie will be topped with a mini-scoop of velvety ice cream. The two shops adjoin each other at 15208 and 15210 Madison, so you’ll be able to repeat the brownie sundae any time by visiting them there. Ice Cream Joy features artisan ice cream made from local milk and cream from grass-fed cows; fresh fruit sorbets and ices; and many inventive vegan flavors—a treat for not only vegans but those who are lactose-intolerant. Fear’s Confections’ selections include brownies, to-die-for caramels, toffees, truffles, turtles and rare-in-Cleveland sponge candy. Cassandra also makes geeky chocolates—Dr. Who fan alert! The Downtown merchants are delighted to showcase the wonderful products and talents of these two creative Madison Avenue mavens.
Chocolate Walk tickets are $25, and limited to 260. They can be purchased online at LakewoodChocolateWalk.com or in person at lion and blue or Paisley Monkey. An additional 40 tickets (Chocolate Walk ticket is included) at $40 are available online only for the Pre-Walk VIP Party from 5:15-6:30 p.m. To add a touch of mystery, VIPs will board the Chocolate Express in front of Discount Drug Mart to be whisked away to an undisclosed location for wine, beer, hors d’oeuvres and of course, chocolate.
