Blue Ribbon Fun At The County Fair
Lakewood Girl Scout Troop 70109 had a great experience at the Cuyahoga County Fair. The troop, comprised of 16 girls from sixth to ninth grade, prepared over 200 entries for the junior fair. The girls created papercrafts, recycled art, photography, sculptures, jewelry and many more items. The entries were on display at the fair all week.
On Tuesday, the troop participated in activities at the fairgrounds including Project Runway and Creative Writing and Drawing. That evening they set up camp and prepared to sleep out under the stars. Just as the girls were ready to toast marshmallows, torrential rains started (along with a spectacular lighting show)! Luckily the storm was short-lived. Although they were a bit wet, they still enjoyed a roaring fire and a night of camping.
The girls won eight Blue Ribbons, 14 second place finishes, 12 third place finishes, 12 fourth place finishes and seven honorable mentions. This is the second year the girls have participated and camped out at the fairgrounds.
