Happy Day For This Former LHS Football Player

Let's start from the beginning and it was a fortuitous one at that. I was doing a photo-shoot of the July 4th festivities in Lakewood Park and as I was shooting that great LHS band, The Lakewood Projrct, I noticed two very muscular young men standing near the stage. Since I used to work out a lot when younger and was big into sports, I introduced myself to these two young men and we immediately hit it off (which by the way is a trade secret for photography = engage your subjects and you'll get good photos) . I gave them my business card and I got a request a week later asking if I could take some photos of one of the two men doing his letter signing to play college football.

Sie Doe Jr. played as a defensive end for LHS under Coach Mike Ribar in 2011 - 2012. When I asked him what was his memorable tackle, he said, "It was when we were playing Medina. It was a homecoming game and no one expected us to beat them. It was raining, going into the 2nd half with about 3 minutes left. Coach looked over at me and said, 'Sie, we need a sack' and I got it to end the quarter."

He's going to Fort Hayes college in Kansas, a NCAA Division II school, a notable achievement for this young man.

But probably most memorable was what he said when I asked him what his goals were.

"In life, I just want to be able to take care of my family."

I bought a beautiful, large Victorian home on Grace Ave. My wife was raised in Lakewood and is thrilled to be back.
