Letter To The Editor: Lakewood Hospital

With Michael Skindell's filing of petitions to run for Mayor of Lakewood, the issue of closing Lakewood Hospital becomes more than deciding about the future of health care in Lakewood. It becomes an issue of determining the future well-being of the City of Lakewood.

Mr. Skindell's divisive, disrespectful, personal attack on Mayor Summers, as quoted by Mike Deneen in the Lakewood Observer of June 9, ill serves the citizens of Lakewood who have benefited from the business-like manner in which the city has been led during Mayor Summers' tenure.

Unfortunately, ill-informed and uncharitable comments, both in public and private, do not foster consensus building. Respect for the views of others, and tempering  the tone with which dialogue takes place, should be encouraged.
