LakewoodAlive Announces The 2015 "Knowing Your Home" Series

Visit Lakewoodalive.com for our Knowing Your Home schedule.

We are proud to announce the lineup for our 2015 educational series. Knowing Your Home is an educational series focused on best sustainability practices empowering homeowners to tackle necessary repairs and improvements. Our workshops are designed to provide homeowners with helpful information for both do-self projects as well as contracted repairs.

Owning an older home can result in confusing and costly repairs. We want to take the guesswork out of the whole process and empower homeowners to make smart and informed decisions. There will be a few new topics while several oldies but goodies will be included. Our new topics include: Heating System Maintenance & Replacement, Pruning Trees and Shrubs in Your Landscape, Roof Repair & Replacement and Property Value 101, just to name a few. Fan favorites like Wooden Window Repair & Replacement, Exterior Paint & Prep as well as Insulation and Weathersealing will return.

The season kicks off on Thursday, February 26 at Deagan’s Kitchen & Bar from 7-9 p.m. with the workshop, “Love & Logic of Older Homes.” This workshop will set the tone for the series, which will build on maintenance and improvement skills and knowledge. The workshop will focus on the benefits of owning an older home as well as practical ideas for tackling maintenance issues that affect them.

All of the workshops are free and open to any resident, thanks to the generous support of our funders, Charter One, City of Lakewood, Cleveland Lumber, First Federal Lakewood, Huntington, The Cleveland Foundation and Third Federal Savings & Loan.

In lieu of charging for these events, we are asking for participants to consider making a donation to LakewoodAlive or bringing in cans of food or non-perishable items for the Lakewood Community Service Center. We appreciate your support.
