Diversity Potluck: Change Begins With You! Get involved!

Diversity Potluck - 2014

The City of Lakewood's Community Relations Advisory Commission is pleased to announce the annual Diversity Potluck. This year's theme is titled, 'Change Begins with You! Get Involved.' It's all happening on Thursday January 22, 2015 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Women's Pavilion in Lakewood Park. In addition to sampling delicious foods that represent the many diverse populations who live, work, and play in Lakewood, community members have an opportunity to hear about some of the great ways to participate and get involved. The opportunities are endless; and, there are many commissions, churches, and other organizations that need you! What a great way to actively contribute to our great city and connect with like-minded people. As always, city officials will be present to share an evening, a meal, and conversation with the people they serve.

So ready your favorite recipe (enough to feed 8-10 people), and save the date! We sincerely hope you join us for what is sure to be a fun and family-friendly evening.

The Community Relations Advisory Commission is, "Charged to advise, educate, and promote community relations. The mission of the Commission is to foster participation in the community; to encourage and promote respectful conversations and collaborative efforts among and between residents and city officials; and to promote equity, respect, and diversity within the city." Participation on the commission is voluntary and contingent upon appointment by the Cty mayor and the City council. There are currently seats available. The commission currently sponsors three annual events including the Diversity Potluck, the "Welcome to Lakewood" Meet and Greet, and the Community Conversation.
