LBOE-Community Recreation & Education Commission-Open Seat

The Lakewood Board of Education is looking to fill the open seat on the Community Recreation and Education Commission due to the passing of President, Mr. Don Sharp.

Mr. Sharp’s impact at the commission level and across the community with respect to his leadership and service was second to none. His professional practice and collaborative spirit defined his tenure with the Community Recreation and Education Commission.

The Community Recreation and Education Commission is an advisory commission that is appointed by the Lakewood Board of Education.  With the help of two standing sub commissions, the Youth Athletic Commission, and the Adult Athletic Commission, it is responsible for providing input and oversight to the Lakewood Community Recreation and Education Department.

The ideal candidate will have expertise, or experience in the areas of recreation, education, program development/participation and community outreach.  Monthly meetings, subcommittee work, as well as participation in community events, are among the time requirements.

Individuals who are interested in promoting the mission of the Community Recreation and Education Commission with passion and pride should submit a letter of interest and a statement of qualifications to Mr. Robert Curtin, Coordinator of Community Recreation & Education/Operations by December 10.

The Community Recreation and Education Commission will evaluate all applicants and make a formal recommendation to the Board of Education by January 5.
