Lakewood Experiences The Flavor Of Fear October 4

Fear’s Confections Grand Opening Brings Sweets, Family Fun and a Rockabilly Vibe to Madison Avenue; A Special Promotion Supports National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Fear’s Confections introduces its new West Side storefront with a Grand Opening and ribbon cutting on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11 a.m., 15208 Madison Avenue in Lakewood—plus a special, community-focused promotion.

Confection lovers from across Northeast Ohio are invited to drop in to experience the hand-made delectables and spirited rockabilly vibe that define Fear’s Confections. The Grand Opening event offers goodie bags for the first 25 customers, a raffle, and a balloon twister, performing at noon.

Fear’s Grand Opening features a special one-day-only promotion to support the Domestic Violence and Child Advocacy Center, a local non-profit organization whose mission is to empower individuals, educate the community and advocate for justice to end domestic violence and child abuse. The shop will be collecting items from the Center’s Wish List (available online at http://tinyurl.com/DVCACWishList). All donating customers will receive 10% off their purchase, in support of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“We strive to be different than the typical sweet shop,” said Cassandra Fear, owner and chief confectioner. “Everything we sell is small-batch, from-scratch desserts, made right here in the shop from pronounceable ingredients.” Fear’s menu features 15 flavors of gourmet brownies—including two seasonal, fall flavors (S’mores and White Chocolate Pumpkin) that will debut at the Grand Opening. Customers enjoy a variety of hand-dipped and hand-molded chocolates, from her signature caramels, peanut butter cups and sponge candy to seasonal creations such as caramel and candy apples.  Specialty chocolates are available year-round, and feature themes including Star Wars, Doctor Who, gaming dice, coffins, tombstones, and barks. The store will hold its soft opening on Friday, October 3 for friends, family, media and area bloggers.

Fear’s Confections officially launched on March 2010 as an online, in-home brownie business that expanded into chocolates a year later. In 2013, Fear opened her first storefront, located on East 185 Street; the location closed in July 2014 as Fear prepared to open her permanent, West side shop. Fear’s Confections gladly provides catering for wedding and events, as well as a mail order option.
