YMCA Honors Woman Who Rowed Across The Atlantic Ocean

In 2010, Katie Spotz, 22-years-old at the time, rowed the Atlantic Ocean by herself, from Africa and South America in 70 days. She is the youngest person ever to complete the challenge. On Thursday, April 10th from 6-7:30 p.m. Katie will be at the Clifton Club in Lakewood to benefit the Lakewood YMCA Annual Campaign, telling her amazing story and answering your questions.

Katie's story has been featured on CBS Morning Show, CBS Evening News, World News with Diane Sawyer, Anderson Cooper 360, New York Times, NPR, PBS News Hour, and the Discovery Channel. In 2010, Katie was honored by Glamour Magazine as one of their "Women of the Year" alongside people like Julia Roberts, Cher, and Queen Rania of Jordan.

The cost of the event is $60/person and is limited to the first 60 to register. There will be heavy hors d'ouevres included and a cash bar.

To register, please contact the Lakewood Family YMCA at 216-521-8400. You may also email branch director, Gary Rick at grick@clevelandymca.org for more details.
