Questions:

1.  Please tell us your name, age, where you live, and your current job.

Nickie J. Antonio

1305 Belle Ave. Lakewood Ohio

State Representative Ohio House District 13

2.  Why do you want to serve in the Ohio General Assembly? (200 words max)

Why are you seeking this office?

I have been a hard working State Representative serving House District 13 with commitment and integrity. I will continue to work to create and retain jobs, strive for excellence in education for all students, and work to create policies that support healthy communities.

I have been committed to public service throughout my professional life. First, as a special education teacher for 10 years, and then through my over 20 years of service to non-profit organizations and the people they serve throughout Northeast Ohio. Those experiences combined with being a parent and a lifelong resident of Greater Cleveland have showed me how public policy impacts our daily lives and our region. I decided long ago that I wanted to be a part of advocacy efforts working for collaborative solutions, including, bringing those who have been disenfranchised, back into the process. I believe by working together, we can make our region a place where people want to raise their families and live, work, play and thrive. This is why I currently serve and why I seek re-election to continue to serve as a State Representative in Ohio.

3.  What do you bring to this position that makes you the most qualified? (200 words max)

I bring diverse and eclectic experience in both small business (as an independent consultant) a non-profit administrator and a former special education teacher. These experiences gave me “frontline “ training and understanding of how public policy affects the lives of the people in our community. Experiences that I have taken to my Lakewood City Council service and now serving as State Representative. I have been and will continue to be an advocate for seniors, families, small businesses and the working people of our district. I currently serve on the House Committees of: Finance, and Appropriations, Commerce, Labor and Technology; Health and Aging and Education. I have also been appointed to the newly formed committees of Public Health Futures and the 21st Century  Manufacturing Task Force.  I believe by working together, we can make House District 13 (Lakewood, Cleveland Wards 16,17 and a part of 15) and our region a place where people want to raise their families to live, learn, work, play and thrive. I hope that my hard work and representation as the State Representative has earned me the confidence of the people to be returned for a second term. This is why I seek re-election to continue to serve as a State Representative in the Ohio House.

4.  How, specifically, will we know that you are doing a good job?

I work very hard to be present in the district to provide opportunities for dialogue through regularly scheduled “Coffee and Conversation” throughout the district. I meet with folks from the district on a regular basis and work with them to address issues of importance to them and the district. I also have introduced and supported  legislation that I hope will improve the lives of Ohioans. My office works very hard to provide vigorous constituency services in which we answer policy questions and provide resource and referral information. We also provide updated information through a monthly e-newsletter for anyone who wishes to receive it. I visit and meet with young people throughout the district to encourage and advance their leadership and excellence. I would say you will know- should know if I am doing a good job if you see me continue to provide the service at the bar I have set, which I continue to work to surpass in my service to the residents of the Ohio House District 13.  (200
