The Only Emperor Is The Emperor Of Ice Cream: Free Frozen Goodness From Jeni And The Friends Of Lakewood Public Library
We are counting down the minutes to the longest day of the year with spoon in hand. Jeni is coming! And the Friends of Lakewood Public Library will be celebrating her visit by doling out free scoops of too-good-to-be-true ice cream.
Jeni, of course, is Jeni Britton Bauer—the hand-cranked genius behind Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, the acme of artisanal, small-batch ice cream. She’s also a wildly successful businesswoman, an author and a lover of public libraries. We couldn’t be more excited to have her come and speak about her bestselling book, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams at Home. The event will take place in the Library’s First Floor Multipurpose Room on Thursday, June 21 at 7:00 p.m. Books will be available for sale and signing at the event. And don’t forget about the free scoops of Goat Cheese and Roasted Cherries, Salty Caramel and Darkest Chocolate in the World. Bring your own spoon to show that you care.
The book, destined to be sticky and stained before the summer is through, is more than a collection of daring and delicious recipes—though there are many to try. Jeni has mixed in a memoir, too. The building of a business goes hand in hand with an emerging food philosophy. And the friends she made and the breakthroughs in her technique are the milestones that mark the way.
Free ice cream will be dished out on a first-come, first-served basis. But please don’t walk around the Library with it! (We hope to do this again someday.) Special thanks goes to the Friends of Lakewood Public Library who will be footing the bill for this wonderful day. If you would like to thank these volunteers for their generosity, why not stop by their next book sale and buy up armloads of books, movies, magazines and CDs? Better yet, why not volunteer?
