Who may register a child for school?: Only legal residents who are the parent or legal guardian of the child may complete the registration process. All certified court orders pertaining to guardianship and custody must be presented at the time of registration. The Lakewood City School District does not grant temporary enrollment (OCR 3313.64 E).
Kindergarten Information: Ohio Law requires that all children complete a formal kindergarten program. Any child who is five years old on or before September 30 of the school year is eligible for kindergarten.
Residency Requirements: The schools of the Lakewood City School District are tuition-free only for those students whose parents/legal guardians are residents of the school district. “Residence” for school purposes means that the custodial parent(s)/legal guardian(s) of the student are full-time residents of Lakewood.
Required Information for Registration: All documents must be presented at the time of registration to complete the enrollment. Please refer to the Checklist for Registration page of the Student Registration Packet.
