Hire Local Lakewood

Job hunting has never been easy. “Pounding the pavement” to look for a job isn’t fun, but some human contact is usually guaranteed. While internet job sites and electronic applications seem to streamline the process, in reality they have only increased barriers to employment for some applicants. However, help is available.

On Monday, April 8, 2019, representatives from Hire Local Lakewood will be in the Main Library Multipurpose Room from 6:30-8:00 p.m. to offer information about the job preparation, job search and training programs they offer. The program will be repeated Monday, April 22, 2019 at the same time and location.

Hire Local Lakewood was created in 2018 as a partnership between Lakewood Community Services Center and The Centers for Families and Children’s El Barrio Workforce Development program. Located at 14230 Madison Avenue, the program offers a neighborhood venue where businesses and job seekers can meet to find out about local careers and employment. They offer information on careers and training programs, workshops on job hunting skills, assistance with job searches and online applications, and connections with local job opportunities. Despite its name, Hire Local Lakewood is not just for Lakewood residents, but offers services to people from surrounding communities as well. Residents and businesses can learn more about Hire Local Lakewood by calling (216) 325-WORK.
