  • Paul Klinger, a resident that was nearly hit by the falling branch commented, "I was on my way home from T.J. Butcher Block, where I went to gt a sandwich. Have you ever tried their sandwiches..."

  • ... I admitted I had and they are great. "Well so I have this ham sandwich in a bag and CRACK and the thing fell right next to me."

  • I asked what else he thought.

  • While he pondered negligence, act of god, etc. He decided it would be best to go eat his sandwich.

  • 06.27.2013 around 11:45 a woman lost control of her car smashing through the bus shelter...

  • ... and into the apartment building on the North East corner of Belle Ave. and Clifton.

  • The car stopped just inches short of the building.

  • The woman was described as elderly and shaken up by onlookers. I can imagine, after this ride, and about to hit an apartment building most of us would be shaken up.

  • This should be a "cool" sale. Suddenly Thomas Mulready, "Cool Cleveland" appears and comes down the driveway stopping us with, "O'Bryan, what are you doing here? This sale is for cool people!" I show him my money, and he goes, "Ok, I'll make an exception this time."

  • Inside we find the always pleasent Carol Hunt Mulready sweeping some water off the drive. Cheack out how nice her setup is; A) Change for the quick sale. B) Sticker for quick pricing changing. C) A Sharpie brand waterproof pen.

  • "OK, you better be moving along. I knew you weren't a buyer, or that cool."

  • Now this crew had it down. I asked, "Can I take a couple pictures for the Observer." One girl said, "I think so, let me ask my mother." The other said, "I bet you want to buy sme cupcakes." Feeling the pressure I said "sure" She said, "what about your friend?" Feeling even more pressure to buy, "I said, OK I'll take two." With some secret sign I am sure, the other girl walked back and said "OK you can take a couple."

  • Wow! What a colorful sale! The cupcakes were good too!

  • The rain came, whewwww not sure how much more I could have taken.

  • Brown Pelican in Cleveland. What has been described as a rare Brown Pelican has appeared in and arorund Cleveland. So I grabbed the camera and went looking.

  • Sure enough, Pelecanus occidentalis, was sitting out on the break wall with comorants, geese, ducks and seagulls.

  • The theory is he was blown inland during hurricane Sandy.

  • Some has suggested it should be named "scruffy."

  • They are the only species of pelican that is strictly marine in habitat, never found more than 20 miles out to sea or inland on fresh water. They prefer shallow inshore waters such as estuaries and bays.

  • They are the only species of pelican that hunts with such dramatic plunging dives. After capturing the fish they rise to the surface and drain the water from the pouch. The pelican's beak can "really hold more than its belly can". The pouch holds about three gallons, the stomach about one gallon. They also take some invertebrates. So if you get a chance, check "Scruffy" out.
