A Celebration of Arts & Communication Education

Sept. 19, 2008 was the night The Westshore School Districts kicked off their Arts and Communication joint effort program. The Lakewood Observer and Westlake Bay Village Observers are proud to be part of the program.

  • State Rep. Michael Skindell speaks of the need for arts education in schools.
  • Then presents a special proclamation to the schools and Beck Center.
  • "Behind The Scenes Of Urinetown" was part of a demonstration by Scott Spence and the cast of Urine Town, on what "art" brings to the theater. In the demonstration, they performed on a bare stage, then added sets, then costumes, then lights, and then music.
  • Now with costumes.
  • Now add music and lighting.
  • Keynote speaker for the night was Robert Conrad, voice of the Cleveland Orchestra for years on WCLV.
  • Denny Wendell publisher for the Westlake Bay Village Observer talks with teachers from the Westlake Schools Arts Programs.
  • Susan and Bill Grimberg, with Cindy Einhouse.
  • Rosemary Corcoran, with Tom and Cindy Einhouse.
  • Patron for the arts and education in Lakewood Lucy Sinagra explains to Denny Wendell 100 reasons not to leave Lakewood.
  • A wonderful time was shared by all that turned out. The Arts, Music, Theater, Communications, and Food, were all very good. But the future of Arts Education on the Westshore was the star of the evening.
