The Lakewood Department of Human Services-Division of Youth H20 "Help to Others" Summer Service Camp is now accepting applications on for Summer Camp. Applications are available online at www.onelakewood.com/human_youth_main.html. Printed applications are available at the Lakewood Division of Youth, the Lakewood Public Library and the Lakewood Recreation Department. The deadline for entering the lottery-style registration is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2008.

During the two-week camp session, Lakewood residents entering grades 6-9 spend the morning performing activities at various service sites and the afternoon is spent on game time and team building activities. Trained high school students act as service mentors for the younger participants. These skilled counselors supervise, instruct, motivate and empower their teams of five to six campers through a rich variety of hands on activities and learning experiences.

H2O is a program of the Lakewood Department of Human Services Division of Youth in partnership with Lakewood City Schools. Under the direction of staff from the Division of Youth, H2O programs are intended to build and strengthen the confidence and resources of Lakewood's young residents through service projects.
