Is The Mayor About to Make A Bad Deal With Cleveland Clinic?

Postby Bill Call » Wed Dec 31, 2014 7:25 am

I suspect that the Mayor and Council are to eager to make a deal.

The bad deal will include;

Acquiescence to the transfer of most medical services to Lorain County.
The City will agree to the loss of millions in tax revenue.
The City will agree to the loss of hundreds of millions in economic activity.
The City will agree to hold the Clinic harmless for its breach of contract and restraint of trade.

The Clinic will agree to call the minute clinic Lakewood Hospital.

All parties will then announce with great fanfare that the Hospital has been saved!

Here is a better plan.

The Clinic honors is contractual obligation to maintain a full service hospital with modern equipment and facilities.

The Clinic restores all the jobs transferred to Avon including all doctors and specialists.

The Clinic guarantees that Lakewood Hospital will have on it's full time staff at least as many professional employees in Lakewood as the Clinic has in Westlake and Avon.

If the Clinic agrees to do that we will have a deal.

If the Clinic fails to do that we will have a lawsuit.

DO NOT ACCEPT A GLORIFIED MINUTE CLINIC IN PLACE OF A HOSPITAL

Bill,

Could you help me understand why we need to make any deal with Cleveland Clinic?

If you would understand anything, observe its beginning and its development.

That's a good question.

Before I weigh in perhaps one of our elected officials can post their opinion.

It seems likely.

To fend off a law suit I guess the City and Clinic will insist that the hospital is not closing but if you need surgery or need to see a doctor you have to go to Avon.

This is called meeting community needs. I can understand why the Clinic wants to engage in this subterfuge but I can't understand why the Mayor and Council endorse the subterfuge.

Think of the Cleveland Clinic as the General Motors of the health care industry. Eventually the Clinic will do as much for Cleveland as GM did for Detroit.

I love how Dr Cosgrove said that medical needs are changing. Lakewood doesn't need a hospital... but it will stay until AVON GETS A HOSPITAL?!? WTF?!?

How many think Summers will have some connection with whoever gets the development rights of the new prime real estate? I am willing to put money on it.

What a shame. Our mayor needs to be impeached.

The Mayor said, "lets not think of it as we are losing something" "we look forward to the conversation with our residents" "this decision makes sense"

We don't need a hospital? Excuse me but who the F are THEY to tell US we don't need a hospital? We are being treated like dirt by CCF and the city is collaborating with them.

SHAME on them all for what they are doing. Cater to the rich white demographic, as usual.
