Missile contrail?

Beautiful photo, Steve. Must have been even cooler to see in the real world, vs. on our monitors.

Your mention of missile contrails reminds me of this: I lived in Wales for a while, as a laborer on an old house on the side of a hill. The RAF fighters used to practice flying low, and sometimes we could see them coming from miles away out over the valley. The planes would start out lower than us, and then --following the contour of the land--it would seem that they were headed straight at us. Then they'd go right over head, leaving a terrific noise behind them. All that would happen in a few seconds. If they'd been leaving contrails, that pic is what they'd have looked like.

Wow-- looking at the pictures in this thread I hesitate to post the clouds I took pictures of tonight. There are spectacular pictures in this thread. If posting this just brings this thread back to the top it's worth it.

This is from the parking lot of Lakewood High tonight, after a great rock show put on by the Rock On campers, their counselors and the Lakewood Project. I'll post something from that if I can stay awake.

The kids were fascinated by how the light cut through and up like a flashlight beam in sky.

Jimmy,

I think that you really need to get into the desktop background photo business.

You help people to see so much...

(Nice photo too, Betsy!)

Whether that would be regarding nature, politics, or others around them.

You open eyes.

Back to the banjo...

Gary

Thank you for the kind words.

At the end of the day, I am nothing more than an Observer,
who likes to share my observations with others.

Nothing more...
... nothing less.

We are all observers, the only thing that really differs is what we see and
what we are willing to share.

Betsy, you and many, many others have also shared some nice photos and good words.

It is what this project is all about.

What is so important that both Pat and Heidi are taking pictures of?

Oh another fabulous sunset over The Emerald Canyon.*

All summer we have noticed more and more people walking Riverside at sunset, even sitting on a front
lawn with friends and enjoying one of the best visuals in Lakewood day after day.

* This shot is dedicated to Ryan Salo, who noticed the sunsets.

Sunrise this morning seemed appropriate for 9/11 anniversary.

Also appropriate for another important event in our family today. Happy Birthday, Mike.
