At about 6:03 PM a call went out to respond to an incident at the parking lot serving the apartment building at Arthur and Madison (behind the Beer Engine). There was the possibility of gunshots in a parked car. Over 6 Lakewood Police cars responded as well as 2 Paramedic Units and LFD fire engines. An ambulance swiftly loaded on an individual and pulled out to the hospital. Yellow crime scene tape was placed by the Police.

It's time for straight talk. Will anyone listen? By listen I don't mean hear what is said or read what is written. I mean respond with action.

Victim identified as Joesph Bartel 41 who lived in the apartment building on Arthur Ave. where the car was parked.
The other person in the car was identified as Thomas Henry, from Cleveland who was taken to Lakewood Hospital as he was intoxicated and having other issues.
At this time it is being looked at as a possible suicide, though police are waiting for the corner's results and tests to come back.

PD's Donna Miller reporting it was two highly intoxicated men sitting in car, one passed out and the other committed suicide while the other was passed out.
I don't know if that qualifies as a "shooting," as it has been broadcast on the news, both print and TV. Yes, it involved a gun, but it was a suicide, not someone shooting someone else.
