Sandstone slab sidewalks

Postby Steven M. Ott » Tue Sep 23, 2008 3:33 pm

Does anyone know of a good contractor that can level out the sandstone slabs in a sidewalk?

Steve--- That is a disapearing art. But try Dever and Sons or M.L.Scott as a start.

My father (accompanied, unwillingly, by me) did it himself. We had to be gentle lifting the slabs, so as not to break them, and chopping out any tree roots that had lifted a slab was hard work, but just leveling them was fairly easy; we just spread the appropriate amount of sand, then replaced the slab. His repair did last for quite a few years until he died and my mother sold the house, and it might still be there.
